French perfumery Lesourd Pivert announced today a groundbreaking partnership with organic farming cooperatives in Vietnam’s Central Highlands to pioneer sustainable spice production。
The initiative focuses on cultivating aromatic plants like lemongrass, ginger, and cinnamon using regenerative farming techniques. By replacing chemical pesticides with biofertilizers and adopting solar-powered distillation systems, the project aims to reduce carbon emissions by 35% compared to conventional methods.
“Our collaboration embodies the fusion of tradition and innovation,” said CEO Élise Lesourd. “By integrating Vietnam’s rich botanical heritage with circular practices, we ensure both fragrance excellence and environmental stewardship.” The cooperatives, primarily led by women in Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces, receive training in organic certification standards and soil health management, boosting incomes by 20% through premium pricing.
Key environmental measures include water recycling for irrigation and repurposing plant waste into biochar. The project also supports reforestation efforts, planting 5,000 native trees annually to combat deforestation linked to spice farming.
